The only interesting thing about soccer is the Beckhams.
Especially their hair. It’s so perfectly windswept but still so flyaway-free!

Betty Boop - Betty Boop's Trial-1934 (colorized)

Okay so this came to my attention today and I’m honestly surprised that I’ve never thought of it before; but I decided to actually watch an episode of an old Betty Boop today. It was the most sexist terrible thing I’ve seen in a really long time. Now, granted it was made in the 1930s so the standards were obviously different when it came to feminists like myself noticing and protesting this kind of thing. The reason this made me so angry was that, until today, I thought Betty Boop was actually a really cute character. I knew that she was a sex object and can be put in a category with Jessica Rabbit “women obviously animated by ambitious men.” Nevertheless, I liked the big eyes and cute catch phrase. It is strange to me that so many girls, like myself, continue to admire and appreciate Betty Boop without doing this simple research. I no longer find Betty Boop costumes cute, but rather, I see them as a statement to an unchanging and unforgiving anti-woman culture that we live in.
